The new year approaches and with it comes the responsibility of planning where to go and what to do in 2020. To help whet the appetite, we’ve collated our list of 18 bucket list travel goals we’ll be ticking off the list in 2020. Into these we’ve woven the slopes, European city breaks and summer sunshine destinations. Enjoy.
1. Warm up for New Years Eve @ La Folie Douce
The NYE celebrations kick off on the piste and we couldn’t help but doff a beanie towards the iconic Folie Douce in Val d’Isère. Cabaret, DJs, dancing on tables. Yes please.

2. Go by helicopter to Les Deux Alpes
If you’re staying at either Les Deux Alpes or Alpe d’Huez this season, your lift pass covers you for a day in the other during your stay. So call in the chopper. For only €70 return…
3. Speedride
This explosive cocktail combines skiing and flying in one descent. Offered at a range of resorts and your free My Swft travel concierge can help you plan it all. Requires a competent level of skiing and serious cahones.
4. Drive on ice in Val Thorens
Possibly the most fun you can have on four wheels. Ice driving is available at a host of resorts and comes in the form of a kart, a quad or an actual road-worthy car. Bedlam.
5. Eat Gröstl at the Melkalm
The very best of this delicious and warming, traditional Austrian mountain dish can be enjoyed with stunning views at the Melkalm, in classy Kitzbühel.
6. Dance it off at the Moosewirt
The birthplace of Austrian après, the Moosewirt sits just above party town St Anton and with just a short (but treacherous) run down stays open way past when the lifts close. Prost.
7. Bar hop down Javastraat
Escape the mainstream masses and head to the heart of Amsterdam’s hip and up and coming Indische Buurt district. Bonus point if you go by bicycle.
8. Gaze up at the Northern Lights
Make Reykjavik your base and enjoy the best of this cool, cosmopolitan city alongside a number of nature’s most amazing spectacles.
9. Surf in San Sebastian
Spain’s answer to Monte Carlo combines fine dining with a laid back surfer vibe. Three beaches, alluring art nouveau architecture and no less than 16 Michelin stars. This little city punches way above its weight.

10. Go big at the Berghain
If the mercurial men on the door deign to let you in, a night at Berlin’s infamous Berghain will not be one to forget. Proceed with caution.
11. Stroll around le Marais avec some macaroons
Beautiful, narrow streets are the signature of this area of Paris, near Metro Saint-Paul. Pick up a box of macaroons from Pierre Hermé and go for a wander.

12. Cocktail with a view at the W Hotel
Barcelona’s trendiest hotel is located on the beachfront along the famous Barceloneta boardwalk and hosts regular parties on its stunning rooftop “Wet Deck”. The perfect blend of City and Sun.
13. Claim the Iron Throne
Kings Landing, in the acclaimed TV series Game of Thrones, was filmed on the stunning Croatian Island of Dubrovnik. Walk the city walls and enjoy views of the beautiful Old Town on one side, and the Azure Adriatic on the other. Lovely.
14. Play volleyball on Copacabana Beach
The inadequacy one feels witnessing the ease at which the locals play volleyball on these beaches, often with only their feet, is almost enough to put the team at packed HQ off. Fortunately, we aren’t quite that proud, because the breathtaking scenery, the samba and the style of Rio and its beaches secure their place on any traveller’s bucket list.
15. Cruise the Pacific Coast Highway
The iconic 450-mile stretch between Los Angeles and San Francisco weaves up the West Coast passing through laid-back surfer towns and energetic cities, all with an uninterrupted view of the Pacific. Pick up a convertible and discover what the California state of mind truly means.
16. Take in a sunset at Single Fin
Perched atop the majestic Uluwatu cliffs and boasting the largest balcony in the archipelago, Single Fin has been a must visit for anyone travelling to Bali since opening. While away the afternoon overlooking one of surfing’s spiritual homes, before things really come to life as the sun sinks into the Indian Ocean. Paradise.
17. Stand on Table Mountain
This truly iconic mountain towers over the city below and no visit to Cape Town is complete until the summit is reached. If you can, make this the starting point for an African Safari.

18. Eat jerk in Jamaica
Perfect weather, pristine beaches and crystal clear waters abound, but the indomitable spirit of the people who live there are the highlight of any trip to the Caribbean. Sunsets, white sands and big smiles ensure everything’s gonna be alright.
