The great thing about Germany is, ze germans love a beer.
Cologne is Germany’s fourth largest city and home to around one million welcoming inhabitants. At almost 2000 years old the city features some amazing architecture, none better than Cologne cathedral, and with a reasonably short flight time it’s in the perfect location to bring your stag do to its climax by drinking properly produced lager in those big two-pint steins.
But where do you get the party started in Cologne? The city is filled with brewhouses (Brauhausers) similar to the Bierkeller’s of Munich, where you can drink Kolsch by the bucket and mix with the locals. Fruh am Dom is well worth a visit, the food is amazing too.
Take yourself to the Altstadt, close to Buttermarkt and Salzgasse for a true German drinking experience or visit the University Quarter for some trendy pubs and decent places to eat. Once you’ve had a few beers, ease the hangover with a quaint boat cruise up the Rhine while stopping off at more picturesque pint spots along the way.

Offering something a little bit different to the capital, Porto is known by locals as the land of bridges and wine. More specifically, port wine. That sweet drink that has sponsored many a father’s day tipple. Porto rests on Portugal’s Iberian peninsula and is filled with 18th century Baroque churches and the type of buildings that remind you of medieval times gone by.
Head to the district of Baixa to find drinking holes of all shapes and sizes; enjoy traditional Portuguese wines and a beer or two in Aduela and Gundalense for some no frills Iberian hospitality.
The locality of Baixa is also filled with a selection of craft breweries and fashionable joints, perfect for beginning your night mixing with the locals in a more contemporary setting. Searching for ice-cold beers and great music? Head to BOP, Praca, or Baixa.

Madrid, a mix of contemporary Spanish design and traditional architecture, a bustling foodie scene and more bars than any other city in the world (apparently). A stag weekend in Madrid provides the opportunity for day-drinking in sunny squares with the lads, before taking a trip to the lofty heights of the Santiago Bernabeu to watch the Galacticos of Real Madrid.
Take a walk to the Literary Quarter where you’ll find a diverse selection of more bars and watering holes to wet your palates. This area provides entertainment throughout the day and night, and rests on the intersection between Calle Príncipe and Calle Huertas. Head to club Princesca for a similar nightlife experience.

So then, the official stag group-chat has been created and the usual suggestions have been made. You’ve been hearing whispers of a small locality in south-west France. A nice little place on the Mediterranean Coast called Perpignan. Do you risk typing those nine letters into the message box and hitting send? Yes, you do. Because Perpignan is a prime stag destination.
Finding influence from French, Spanish, and Catalan cultures, all of the action is in the centre of town and within walking distance. It’s worth visiting Les Halles Vauban, a vibey indoor market with delicious food stalls and a huge square bar. Take the lads to a Top 14 game at the Stade Aimé Giral after a coach trip out for lunch on the coast – La Volle, a restaurant in the stunning town of Collioure, will blow you away and secure your place in the stag-related history books.

Germany’s seventh largest city is home to Altbier, similar to British pale ale and the product of five pub breweries situated within the historic Altstadt area of the city. The breweries include Füchschen, Schumacher, Schlüssel, Uerige and Brauerei Kürzer.
Dusseldorf is the fashion capital of Deutschland as well as being the founding location of Avant Garde sensation, Kraftwerk. On the back of this, you can expect to find a vibrant bar and music scene most notably in the Media Port area of the city or within Dusseldorf Old Town and the Ratinger Strasse. These areas are filled with wall to wall restaurants, bars, and nightclubs offering an authentic German experience with all the Altbier you can consume.

Located on the southern shorelines of the Faxa Bay, Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital, has experienced a boom in popularity in recent years. Estonia’s capital Tallinn is the home of around 430,000 friendly Estonians. Formerly known as Reval, the Baltic city of Tallinn is perhaps most famous for winning the European Capital of Culture award in 2011, as well as being a hotbed of Marzipan production since the middle ages. Nowadays, Tallinn is a superb destination for European stag dos in search of a vibrant music and nightlife scene that caters beautifully to a stag weekend send-off.
Just yards away from the old town square you’ll find cellar bars filled with character, and nightclubs providing a welcoming environment until the early hours. Locals proclaim that if you’re ever in Tallinn you’re legally obliged to try a Jellyfish shot (Millimallikas) in Vallis Bar. The shot is a combination of sambuca, tequila, and Tabasco. Once you’ve downed some delicious Jellyfish, head to Porgu for a true Estonian drinking experience.

The Croatian city of Dubrovnik is perhaps one of the most beautiful locations for a stag weekend that the Mediterranean has to offer. Soak up the sun and sample a few Karlovacko’s in the Old Town before sitting on the Iron Throne itself.
Activities-wise, head out to the picturesque Mostar and Kravice waterfalls or spend the day on Banje beach for some jet-skiing and beach volleyball.
